Alumni Library Privileges
Alumni library privileges include the ability to borrow books, and access articles from Roosevelt libraries.
Visiting the Library
Alumni are welcome to visit any of our library locations. Please note that at the Downtown Campus beginning May 5, 2014 visitors to the University, including alumni, will be required to obtain a guest pass from the Campus Safety desk in the Wabash or Auditorium lobbies. Visitors will need to show a state-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, to obtain a guest pass. For questions about this policy, please contact Alumni Relations (contact info below).
The alumni card also serves as a library card. Alumni can obtain a card by calling the Alumni Office at (312) 341-3624. Alumni Office hours are from 9-5, Monday- Friday. Once you have your alumni card, bring it to a library circulation desk, and we will attach a new barcode to the card. Alumni accounts must be renewed every three months.
Alumni may check out an unlimited number of books from Roosevelt's circulation collection. You will need an Alumni Card, which will serve as your new library card.
Only 5 books may be borrowed from the Performing Arts Library at one time.
Alumni may check out books for 4 weeks and renew them twice for a total borrowing time of three months.
Alumni may request that RU books be delivered to the Roosevelt campus of your choice.
There is a 30 day grace period beyond the due date. Books returned after their grace period are subject to a $5.00 fine per item.
Roosevelt books may be ordered on-line and delivered to the campus of your choice. Alumni do not have borrowing privileges with I-Share libraries.
Alumni may request that copies of journal articles owned by Roosevelt University be delivered to the campus of their choice.
Alumni may access online electronic databases on-site in the library or computer labs only.
Remote access is not allowed due to licensing agreements with the database vendors.
ILL services are available only for current students, faculty and staff. As stated above, alumni can request transfer of books and journal articles from another RU campus.
Alumni may check out DVDs and VHS tapes from the library’s video collection. Videos are checked out for 7 days and cannot be renewed.
