Interlibrary Loan

A guide to obtaining books, articles, scores, and other material that is not owned the Roosevelt University Library

How to submit a request

Books

If the book you need is not available in the RU Catalog or I-Share Catalog, search the WorldCat catalog. When you have found your book, click the Request via Interlibrary Loan button.

You will be prompted to log in to your interlibrary loan account with your NetID and password. Once you log in, the citation information should import automatically into the form. If the form does not automatically populate you may need to fill it out yourself.

Multiple Volume Sets: Submit only one request but specify the specific volume(s) needed.

 Articles

When searching the library's databases for articles, you will see a 360 Link to Full Text icon when an article is not available in that specific database. Clicking that icon will show whether the article is available in another database, in print, or on microform.

If the article is not held by Roosevelt University, you will see a the button Interlibrary Loan Request. Click the button, login to your interlibrary loan account, and the request form will automatically import the citation information for your article.

Renewing Books

Renewals are granted at the discretion of the lending library. You may attempt to renew a book with your interlibrary loan account no sooner than 14 days before the book is due and no later than one day after the book's due date.

Accessing Your Requests

Books, Scores, and other physical media

  • Books and other physical media will be available to pick up at the circulation desk of the library location you choose. You will get an email notifying you when the book or other media is ready to be picked up.
