Creating a Multiple Company Report in Mergent Online

There are three ways to create a multiple company report in Mergent Online.

The first, most straightforward way is to use the "Competitors" tab in a given company record.

Start by logging on to Mergent Online.

Type in either the company's name or ticker symbol in the left corner.

Click on the dark blue "Competitors" tab.

You will see Mergent's list of the company's main competitors, ranked in 'Revenues' order.

Click on the 'Download' link in the middle right side.

The resulting Excel spreadsheet will provide comparative financial information for these companies.

The second way is to use the "Company Analysis List".

To start off, use the above method to access the competitors of a particular company.

Click on the "Add All to Company Analysis List" link in the middle right side.

A "My Mergent Tools" screen will open.

Click on the "Company Comparison Report" link in the upper left.

Click the middle 'double-arrow' button - it will add all of the companies into the box to the upper right.

Now, move the 'Data Items' that you would like to compare into the lower right.

Select a format (HTML, Word, Excel, or PDF) and then click on the 'Create Report' button.

The third way is to use the "Report Builder" tab.

Start off by finding a particular company.

Click on the "Report Builder" tab.

The resulting screen will let you build a "Top 10", "Top 25" or "Top 50" companies for comparison.

Select the Data Items you wish to compare (Financials, Ratios) using the ">" button.

Click the "Include Average" checkbox and hold the Ctrl key to choose years to compare.

Select a format (HTML, Word, Excel, or PDF) and then click on the 'Create Report' button.
