Library & COVID-19 Information

Library Information

Effective Friday, March 20, 2020, the physical libraries of the Roosevelt University will be closed but remain open remotely. This includes the libraries on both the Chicago and Schaumburg campuses. No overdue or lost fines will be assessed while the library is online. We encourage you to hold on to the physical items you have from any I-share library. The libraries will continue to operate online to support students, staff, and faculty. This includes online reference and research assistance, virtual classroom instruction, online reserves, and 24/7 access to online databases and e-resources. For more information about Roosevelt University and COVID-19, please visit the university's COVID-19 Emergency Response page.

Library Hours:

All libraries on both campuses will be closed effective Friday, March 20, 2020. The Library will be available remotely for online services and e-resource access.  

Off Campus Library Database Access:

Library databases and other online resources are available 24/7 off campus to all active students, faculty, and staff. While off campus, you will be prompted to enter your NetID and password when accessing the library's online databases. 

If you are a Robert Morris student, you received an email on February 19, 2020 on how to activate your NetID and password. You will need an active NetID and password to access library online resources off campus. To request assistance on activating your NetID and password, contact the library via email refdt@roosevelt.edu or chat with us.  

To enroll your NetID and password:

1. Your NetID is in the email sent on Febraruy 19, 2020. The subject line of the email is: "Roosevelt University ID Card and NetID Information"

2. Visit password.roosevelt.edu

3. Choose the Enroll option - Click "Enroll Now" on the student portion of the screen 

4. Your temporary password begins with RU, followed by your six digit date of birth (MMDDYY) and an exclamation point. For example, if your date of birth is April 2, 1996, then RU040296! would by your temporary password. You will be asked to change the temporary password to one that only you will know. Never share your password with anyone!

  2. Students and faculty can still request library research help online. We have a sign up form to schedule an appointment: https://www.roosevelt.edu/library/research-help
  3. Faculty can request a librarian to visit their online class to go over library resources, online services, and research help. We have a form for Chicago & Schaumburg requests:

  4. The Library can upload readings to an online reserves website for any course. Send course materials and information to emontano02@roosevelt.edu. To access the readings, faculty and students will be given a password to open the course page and download the readings. https://libguides.roosevelt.edu/er.php?b=c 

Interlibrary Loans & I-Share Requests

Interlibrary loan requests for print items (books, musical scores, etc.) are temporarily unavailable due to the nationwide COVID-19 pandemic. We will still attempt to obtain journal articles and other e-resources. No overdue or lost fines will be charged during this period. 
 

Online Resources
