In the boxes below you will find instructions for trimming and compressing your videos. If you have any questions, contact Barb Anderson (312-341-3647 or banderson17@roosevelt.edu)
You should have already determined the time stamps for the beginning and end of your clip (Using VLC, iMovie, etc.)
Open Handbrake and select Normal under Legacy
Select Source
Find the saved video clip
Determine the Destination of the compressed clip by using the Browse button
To trim the video, change Chapters to Seconds. Put the time you want the video to begin and end (NOTE: On some computers, it may ask you to put the time in seconds)
Go to Legacy and select Normal
Select Start
You will see a green bar at the bottom of the window. When compression is complete, you will see Queue Finished in this same location. (Your video is now in mp4 format)
Open Handbrake and select Source. Find the saved video clip.
Determine the Destination of the compressed clip by using the Browse button (You can also name your compressed video
To trim the video, change Chapters to Seconds. In seconds, put the time you want the video to begin and end.
Make sure the Normal Preset is selected and select Start
You will see a bar at the bottom of the window. When compression is completed, you will see Encode Finished in the same location. (Your video is now in mp4 format.)
