Using the Library -What You Need to Know

#3 Finding subject-specific databases

  • Go to Research Guides by Subject web page
  • Use library databases to find: Journal articles; News or magazine articles; Dissertations or theses; Streaming video or music
  • Databases may include full-text articles, abstract only, only citation information, or a combination 

#5 Finding books, articles, DVD's, etc. from main library search box

  1. Main library search box
  2. Defaults to searching all items found in Roosevelt
  3. You can order books and articles from other libraries (in Illinois and worldwide)

#6 Using your "library card" (i.e., Roosevelt ID)

  •  Used to check out items from Roosevelt library
  • Your library ID number is 23311 + your 9-digit personal ID number
  • You can use your Roosevelt ID to access items/use resources at other I-Share facilities 

#7 Your library accounts

I-Share:

  • ​A consortium of over 100 libraries in Illinois
  • Typically receive materials within 3-5 business days

Interlibrary Loan

  • ​Libraries throughout the U.S.
  • Typically receive articles within 3-5 business days (Delivered via email); books take longer

#8 Printing, copying, scanning, connecting to Wifi

Behind circulation desk (AUD 1111)
  • ​Print, copy, or scan in black and white or color
  • 10 cents per page (black and white)
  • 25 cents per page (color)
Learning Commons Computer Lab (AUD 1032)
  • ​Print; black and white only
Other printer locations:

AUD 1009; SCH 140/Library (Color Printer); SCH Licht Student Center; SCH, Hallway outside Room 600; Wabash Cafeteria; Wabash 311 Open Lab; Wabash 14th Floor Residence Hall; WB 1500L Open Lab

Greenprint
  1. Create/change pin for easier printer access
  2. Use the Web Print option to send papers, stored on your computer, to a server then:
  3. Print it from a campus computer

NOTE: Paper only stays on the server for 2 hours. You will need to redo the process after that time has elapsed.

Wi-Fi Information
  • ​Select RU_STUDENT_WIFI
  • Use your NetID and Password (This is what you use to log in to Blackboard or your RU email) 

#9 Access library resources from off-campus

  • You will be asked to enter your NetID and password (same information used to log in to Blackboard)
  • Contact library if you are having problems (see Help box on the left-hand side of this page)
